I once lived in a small studio where all of the walls were painted egg shell white.
The studio complex wouldn't allow me to paint any colors on the wall. I needed an idea to cover the walls because they were so tall and boring.
I remember coming across an idea in an old Pottery Barn catalog to place pictures in non-matching frames closely together. I really liked the idea and it was a chance to showcase some antique postcards, and other unique pictures I had found on my travels.
